The bipolar state. Take a stab at it.
So, this thought kind of came into mind. In my current house, I'm only gonne be able to keep one 5gallon tank, on this bookshelf that only supports 55lbs (so 10gallon is out immediately). I COULD move things around, but moving one thing around changes into moving this and that around, changing into also moving THAT and THAT and, it's not an attractive thought. Plus, it's not even my house, it's my "parents".

If you've seen my pics, I have a divided 5gallon. I love the thought of having a betta in a 5gallon on his own. But I'd also one more than one betta. They're just so interesting, especially with just more than on personality. Unless during the summer my parents decide to move things around (beyond unlikely), then I'll be stuck with this decision. Plus, my parents hate the thought of spending a bunch of money on a little fishie.

What do you guys think?
Should one have their own 5 gallon, or should I keep it divided?

no i had the same idea but i was advised not to on here ill try get the thread up

tank is bit more than 25litre though its aprox 4.88gals

Well my tank is already divided, with 2 males in each divided place. I'm just thinking, should I keep it divided? Or should I throw out the divider? Because I'd really want more than one betta, but at the same time, I want them to have their own 5 gallons. :|

5 gallons for 1 betta is great, if you have that divided that's only 2 1/2 gallons for each betta which is too small. I would go with 2, five gallon tanks, or only 1 betta in a 5 gallon.

You have to keep them divided, and if you cant get a 10 gallon to divide, find a location for 2 five gallons.

Each should have it's own 5 gallon. Moving a few things around isn't exactly hard, 12-14 square inches is not a vast space to clear.

Chest of drawers, worktop, desk, small table, a tank stand if you have the floorspace, basically anything that can hold the weight of a fully loaded tank and is level and stable.

I already have two bettas, and it's already divided. It's been successful for a year. I was just kinda wondering if I should keep it divided

And I said earlier I won't be able to find any more space for another 5 gallon, and the shelf the current one is on only supports 55lbs. (Good for a 5gal. 5 gal + gravel ~ 46lbs)

Honeythorn, not being rude, but you don't live at my house (and I'd rather not take pictures of my house...). It's very occupied with electronics, speakers, games, decorations, you wouldn't believe it. And also, I have absolutely no permission to move anything around, and I'd like to leave it at that.

Haych - I've heard they shouldn't be by it, so I just...didn't put it by it. Not sure why either, I'd love to know.

I know for space, shouldn't try less than 2.5 gallons. But for me, it's just a sense of personal thought. Should I keep with 2 bettas? (I'd love more than one). Or should I just keep one in a 5gallon, and think more of the betta than myself?

Just to let you know bettas should not be by a tv or electronics.

why?

never heard that before

Because they aren't wearing tinfoil hats...

There's no reason at all, the only possible thing I can think of is vibrations but they're minimal and even walking past the tank is going to produce more than a TV.

I'm not a fan of divided tanks. What if one betta gets sick? Won't the disease spread to the other betta?

but, let me get this right. . .you currently have 1 5-gallon that's divided with two bettas, right? What happens to the second betta if you take the divider out?

Guppygoddess, this is pretty much for future reference. It came into thought, and I just couldn't stop thinking about it. We all know sooner or later, they pass off ( ) so what would I do after that? Get another, or not.
If I do end up leaving a betta on his own in a 5gallon, I may or may not get a mystery snail. But that'll be for later thoughts.
