Just wondering if anyone has/do buy aquarium plants online? Theres some great offers on ebay - but can the plants really survive postage?

i personally thought the same - that they wouldnt survive, but a friend round the corner stocked his tank with ebay plants, and they turned up in a package with a tiny amount of water just like on them, and he was skeptical, but got them in the tank and they have bloomed and grown beautifully :)

so i have now also ordered some, 4 pounds for 20 plants, bargin!

yep iv got most my plants online :good:

iv bought plants from ebay before (weeping moss). also bought more than 1 plant off people on the forum (all posted). and iv got some HC coming (hopefully tomorrow) from plants alive. all have survived so far :good:

which? i bought it on a 3" by 3" mesh for like £3. arrived fast and its growing. moss's are tough if they have water. i dont think the postage would kill it

When I came back to trops after keeping marine/reefs for 15 years I got all my plants from Aquaessentials and they are brilliant IMO

I buy plants from last trading post on eBay, always arrive in very good condition.

just bought some off ebay :) i will be more than pleased if these turn out to be ok - £3 for 20 omg - in my local store its 3 for £6 and they dont seem to last

:good: +1 with that. They are excellent. Well-packed, fast and good value; I've bought three times from them, all delivered quickly and in good condition.

I've heard a lot of stories where people have got non-aquatic plants. The best thing I'd advise is typing in the names of specific plants you want and know to be aquatic.

Some people might shoot me down for suggesting this, but if you have a Pets at Home near you, I'd go there. I got all my plants from there and they're from Tropica, a well known and respected aquatic plant business. The prices are pretty good too.

I was in my local one earlier... Fish tanks and plant tanks full of non aquatic plants, mainly those pale spiky leaved ones with the darker green stripe.

What is the actual name of this eBay shop? All I can seem to find is items from 'levisapphire'.

Also, what/how many would you guys suggest for a 40G tank? Already have 9 pieces of bogwood so I'm trying to finish off the aesthetics with some plants :)

Sorry for hijacking the thread..

Maybe it differs from store to store. I've got three of them in my area and all three of them have only ever had true aquatic plants.

Make sure whatever you buy, it has a Tropica label in it I guess then, if you're going the P@H route.

last-trading-post

Just enter "aquarium plants" in the search box and look for the above as a seller.

No need to hijack, just start a new thread, much more productive.
