Hello, i currently have 5 Zebra danios, and 1 Male fancy guppy, (had 2 females but didnt survive, i think the quality of the shop was at fault.)

I was initially looking at something like Rasboras or some neons but the danios are very active and ive heard they can be aggresive? dont know, so looking for just a smalish shoal of fish, or may get some more guppies.

I'm new to this myself but I was told that Danio's are ok as long as they are in a group as they like chasing each other. With 5 you should be ok to add other fish. I have five Danio's in mine mixed with 8 Tetra's, a Betta (which I've been told to move) and two Black Lyretail/Sailfin.

Depends entirely on the tanksize but Personally i would rehome the guppy and then build a stock around the cyprinids from asia, (Danios are a cyprinid btw) so that could include other danios, barbs, rasboras, sharks, loach and botia species, You could then add one or two other centrepiece fish to finish

i have 5 danios, with harlequin rasboras, guppies and platys.and shrimp. Danios are fine with those, and would also be fine with corydoras..danios are playful with eachother and i havent had them attack any of my species, i havent heard any stories of them attacking any fish to be honest..

I think you've somehow received the wrong impression about danios (zebras, leapards, whatever.) I've got zebras with rasboras and neons and they are great together. In fact I'd be hard pressed to decide which of the 3 might have instances of being the most aggressive, really. All three species respond strongly to shoal size, just as we emphasize here in the forum. They'll each do much better at quantity 6 for instance than if you let them drop to 3 or 4 and the'll do even better at 8 or 10 in their shoal. I find all 3 of these types of fish to be great fun and interesting to watch. They're very common but they're still great fish.
