Tiny White Worms

To my horror, i saw around 50-100 1-2mm long, hair like things on my tank, when i examined, they were moving

what are they! =O

a risk to my betta?

sounds like a worm that occurs when the tank isn't clean or too much meat food is fed to the fish. Normally if you do daily water changes and gravel cleans they go away in a week or two.
They are harmless to fish.

I have a feeling i might have the same problem i just found i white stringy thing in the water.... didnt look like it was moving but a little concerned now.

Sounds like Planaria worms to me.

yeah, having done searches it seems to be a match..... the ammonia is fine i just checked so its over feeding or not cleaning enough
