yo!

just upgraded to a Juwel Vision 180, everything is going fine, cycling going good nitrite and ammonia levels are at 0, added my fish nice community tank consisting of gourami, guppy's, mollies and Chinese algae eaters. All going good so far

my girlfriend was looking at the tank and she thought it was a fry that hidden (preg guppy). we then investigated and it seemed like a parasite some sort of crawling insect

am very worried that this insect will disrupt the natural scheme of the water

can someone take a look into this to see if they have seen it before

I have attached the pictures

Peace

It's a damsel fly nymph (larvae).

If you have access to a pond or outside water butt, you can put it in there; you don't want it in your tank. They can take small fish and fry.

how did it get into my tank though? This is what am not understanding

I've had these little critters.

They usually come into tanks via plants.

So be sure to wash plants thoroughly before adding to tank, helps to eliminate these damselfly nymphs and snails as well.

I thought so, I did have a few plants but removed them because I saw one snail and caught it while it was in the early stages.

If I get new plants what would you recommend I heard washing them to soak in saltwater kills off all the snail eggs and other unwanted creatures
