i wanted to put plants in with my shobunkin goldfish. i think water sprite was suggested. however i could only find it online as part of a multi pack of plants. so i bought duckweed- relatively cheap. i got what i paid for(cheaping off). the duckweed arrived and the individual pieces were so smaller the filter sucked them up. my RES was afraid of it in her tank - she’s kinda weird. lol- but she was relieved when the filter sucked the pieces up. i feel that i’m turning into the “what not to do” member!
also does anyone recommend buying bettas online? i’m not ready to leave the house yet as our state is still getting new cases of the virus. thanks

I would wait to pick a betta. Bettas are so unique that ordering online just wouldn't be nearly as good IMO. For other fish that are pretty much identical it would work, but bettas are so unique:)

I just pick up some from my LFS he special ordered it for me, also you can get it on Ebay and Amonzon, but it was cheaper for me to order it though my LFS

I have not tried duckweed with my RES but I thought maybe this summer when I set up their pool I would try it in the pool.

If the filter didnt suck it up the gold fish would have eaten it anyway ;)

Id suggest looking into something like java fern. The leaves are a bit tougher and most fish dont like the taste of it. Goldfish will eat most plants.
thanks - my goldfish are ready for a new size tank- hearty eaters. lol
