Hello, i've just noticed my betta tank has these tiny tiny white creatures in it, smaller than a grain of sand, they are similar in shape to brine shrimp or something, and they bolt around really quickly, any ideas? i recently added 2 snails into the tank which i found in my other tanks filter but apart from that nothings been added to the tank for a while now, are they parasites? how can i get rid of them if they are any danger to my fish?

thanks

ya know i noticed this and then they turnt into snails.....

pretty sure these arnt snails, ive got baby snails in there and im pretty sure snails dont swim..

oh right lol, ye mine were stuck "swiming" on the glass and stuff in the tank, do they look like little white balls swiming about?? about 1mm in size? i had them when i had a betta tank i think they was some kind of water flee?? doubt you have anything to worry about, i will troll google see if i can get a pic up of a few different creatures that are small but for some reason end up in our tanks :)

these arnt even 1mm literally the grains of sand in the tank are about 4x bigger than them, baby snails ive got look like a sploge on the side of the tank i didnt realise what they where till i squashed one and all this brown stuff came out, these you can see a tail and a body as i said similar sorta shape to brine shrimp, and they dont swim they sorta dart around

take a look here and think of these as tiny little dots in your tank...

The only thing that comes to my mind is gill/skin flukes. They are a small external parasite that attach themselves to a fish's gills or body and draw blood from them. A fluke infestation can wipe out a tank in no time, so if you notice your fish start looking ill (heavy breathing, loss of color, loss of apatite, etc.) treat the tank with an anti-parasite med (copper based works well as aquatic inverts cannot tolerate copper). Good luck. :good:

i dont think they are the gill flukes

this is the shape they are

so either these or the cyclops hard to tell exactly cos they are so small, but thats the general shape, going to not feed the tank for a few days and hope the tetras ive got in there eat them
