Tingley Tropicals, Leeds

Tingley Tropicals is on the A650 (Bradford Road i think) between Junction 41 of the M1 and the M62 (cant remember the junction number).

Not Killingbeck mate.

Cool. So what's the one i'm thinking of? You past in your way to ASDA @ Killingbeck!

It's not a new Pets At Home is it? They are springing up everywhere ATM.....

My wife was in there getting some bedding for the hampster and went to look at the fish, she saw a wonderful Male Siamesse fighting fish, but left it because she just won't buy fish from that store seen too many bodies in the tanks.

I did buy a tank mat recently, but only because I needed one and happened to park outside when getting a sandwich from boots! I don't think even they can kill Tank mats!

It's a real shame about THAT place in Armley; the dried goods upstairs are fabulous, but the first time you go downstairs will probably be your last. As for Tingley Tropicals, yes, it's a small shop and choice is limited BUT - the fish they do have are fabulously healthy. I've only been there once, but I was really impressed. Even their Coldwater fish had me tempted. Just check their opening times first, though; not exactly 9-5. But well worth a visit.

A word of warning though Miss Wiggle. There is a memeber on here that PM's death threats to those that slate Living World. Apparently, the manager is going to stomp my head in next time I call. I would love to know how he intends to do this when he desn't know who I am or what I look like...

The Manager obviously has special powers. Shame he doesn't use them to keep their fish alive.

Hi all,

Speaking from personal experience of both shops, Living World and Tingley Tropicals, I will never go, and have not been for 10 years, to Living World again (and it is less than 1 mile away from me) and always use Tingley Tropicals.

The comments about Living World on this thread are true to my knowledge, the animals are kept in atrocious conditions and there are reports that the staff are treated in the same way.

Tingley tropicals is run by George, he is an expert fish keeper, breeder and author. George is what we in Leeds call a character(!), he may seem uninterested or blunt sometimes but he is very informative and helpful given the right kind of prodding. George's wife helps in the shop but is not the expert that he is.

Tingley Tropicals

I have recently discovered the joys of tingley tropicals too, Its a fantastic little shop and the couple that run it are very helpful indeed and stock some fish that you dont see everywhere else aswell.
The guy there are a really funny personality aswell and makes the shop well worth a visit. Even though its only a small shop he has plenty of tanks crammed in and all of them look amazing, not a dead fish in sight anywhere.........which is more than can be said for Pet world in Armley and Ferrybridge aquatics which I visited last Sunday only to see a couple of tanks which were rife with whitespot and no not for sale signage on the tanks and numerous dead fish dotted around in other tanks. The place wasnt particularly busy so I would have thought they'd have been well on top of making sure the tanks were all up to scratch but sadly this wasnt the case......Suffice to say I wont be returning to the shop, I will always buy from Tingley Tropicals especially as they are only around the corner from me...Anyone needing directions, they are on the A650 which is just past the White Rose Shopping Centre,as if you were heading towards Dewsbury, take the exit after the M62 turn off at the big roundabout and they are about 150yds down on the left.

Another big thumbs up for Tingley Tropicals here !

Also there is Tong garden centre , apparently they have a big TF selection but ive not been , day off work today so might head up on the motorbike!
