in a 75 gallon tank can one tin foil barb live with a oscar cichlid?

These are schooling fish and need 5+ other tinfoil barbs and also get to be 14 inches and some say 55 gallon minimum, i would put them in 100 gallons plus.

But other than that as long as the oscar is not big enough to eat the tinfoils yea they work together.

Depends what size the oscar is vs the barb, if your oscar is quite large and you are getting the barb when it is quite small, then there is always the possibility he could get eaten

. However, If both fish are of similar size then they make good tank mates

I have heard some reports that tin foil barbs are quite greedy and can often out compete fish for any food that is going, but I can't see it being too much of a problem as Oscars are quite the hungry little buggers as well

lol

You'll find loads of vids and blogs online were people keep oscars and tin foil barbs quite happily together

cool thanks how many gallons will it take for 2 oscars to live together and what other fish are compatible with oscars

I would say you would probably need around a 75 Gallon tank to house 2 adult oscars, your tank would have to be this size to dilute the amount of waste an oscar will create and the fact they they need plenty of swimming space.

This article should give you a few ideas on what kind of tank mates would be good with Oscars

I havn't had Oscars myself but someone I trust always says 75g for each. So 150g for two oscars. According to THIS tinfoils need a ~200g minimum. About a 7x2ft tank.
