Time to add more stock?

I am currently cycling my 44 gall tank and have had two small platies in for a week. My ammonia is nil, nitrite is 0.3 and nitrate is 5ppm. Should I be looking to add another couple of Platies yet or should I wait?

Also my ph is 8~8.5. What is a good ph for a planted community tank and how could I lower it?
