Time-laps Footage

They all do it! If you think that's bad you should see what 20 fish can do in a couple of hours. Some species of mbuna have a greater tendency to move substrate around than others. The fish in the picture is a female Metriaclima aurora, the male (in my main tank) is larger and has a bigger yap, so he is even more of a dozer than she is. I will try and do another clip of the "shifting sands" in my main tank.

Glad you liked the clip!

Do you move the sand back after they've moved it or do you just leave them to it?

I'll have to read up on cichlids, they sound like very interesting fish!

I would only move the sand back if i'm cleaning the substrate or I'm in a bad humour and want to annoy something! There wouldnt be much point doing it every day other than trying to keep the fish active.

:hyper: wow thats amazing i love it!

how do you do that with your camera? is there a way you can set it or do you just put it on a tripod and press the button yourself ever X number of minutes?

how do you do that with your camera?

I have my works research camera at the moment and it has the function of a time-laps video setting. Basically you just have to mount the camera on a tri pod, set the interval time that you want the picture to be taken at (5 mins in this case) and let the camera do the rest. It sets itself to standby between the intervals so it saves on batteries. For the one battery charge in can run for 4 days taking pictures at 5 min intervals, just as long as there is enough space on the memory card.

Excellent. As a mod, that is one of the most interesting and well done videos I've seen here. Thanks for sharing that with us. I learned from it. I put a link in our moderator section. Kudos. SH
