After spending so much time (and money) on my aquascape, i think i may need to change it

My discus has been cut by my bogwood! - See the Emergency section.... i need help!

Anyway, i am thinking i may need to change my layout for the sake of the discus! They LOVE my bogwood - thats where they spawned, and hang out constantly! BUT, sharp edges have caused problems

So, first photo is of my tank.... what do we think if i take the bogwood out and put this huge rock i have in? That way it would be high 'cockrock' on the left, medium, then low on the right. I was thinkning i could make a riccia carpet or something around it..... but i dont think it will be as nice.... or as nice for the discus as they wont have hiding places

I'm sad!

Rather than totally taking out the timber that they love could you just turn it upside down so all the pointy bits are pointed at the floor or even part buried in the gravel? That's what I'd try anyway.

you could sand down the pointy parts? or cut them off?

I would agree with Baccus. Turn the bogwood upside down, it would still look good (bit like a tree stump) and the fish would still love it. Saves messing around with it too much. But if the fish still somehow manage to hurt themselves on it the only thing you could do is take it out. Saying that its still worth a go turning it upside down to see what happens.

How strange, i thought i replied!

Good thinking with turning the bogwood upside down. But it wont work for this wood i'm afraid! Just due to the shape and layout of it, this is the only way it'll sit as there are SOO many spiky bits!

I'm gonna leave it and see if the fish settle down, as they love it so much.... but if they dont, i'll need to take it out i think!

The fish should avoid it, the lateral line enables them to avoid hitting objects whilst swimming around, if anything else occurs in the future, just sand down the sharp bits.
