I got large marble size gravel for my oscar, one of the few decorated tanks I have running. He is now a large oscar, and spits large gravel.

They do tend to arrange the tank the way they want, mine moved all the silk plants to the left side, towards the front.

well mine was sand, and it was horrible with them in there, smelly and dirty, i couldnt keep up with it, but i have today changed back to gravel, and i can see them clearly now, im well chuffed

i Have gravel average size really. pea gravel.

yea i bet the sand was a nightmare to keep clean.

Also i dont think mine have anychance of moving anything because all i got is LARGE pieces of bogwood.

Cheers for all the replys i think im just worrying to much.

Regards Jimbo

I had to remove the driftwood from my tank some time ago. It was large, screwed to thick pieces of slate. He would run into it, causing some scrapes, sliding it over & bouncing it off of the glass.

Oscars love to mess with things, expect filter intakes to be removed, thermometers to be broken, heaters pulled off, and spray bars shoved out of the tank. My oscar has done all of these, the spray bar incident created a small creek across the basement floor. He broke a good Ebo heater as well, I replaced it with a Stealth.

oh great lots to look forward to then lol

They really are entertaining, mine is in a 72 gallon down in the family room, first tank you see when you go down there. This is a good thing, as you do have to do an equipment check with them at least once daily. I got the larger gravel with the hopes of less spitting, it doesn't matter.

Mine started as a 1 1/2" fish that I got at a local auction. Lots of fun for a $3 fish. Quar in a 10 gallon, moved to a 20, then a 30, finally the 72. Every time he got moved to a foot longer tank he would ignore a foot of tank space on one end or the other for a while, really goofy.
