Heyy guys whatsup.
I have a Tiger Oscar Chilid in a 20 Gallon tank, and he is very healthy.
However I think he/she is very bored in the tank.
I went to petsmart today and saw that they had Albino tiger oscars in.
I thought they were absolutely beautiful so I thought.. what if I bought the opposite gender and put it with my Tiger Oscar?
Thing is.. I don't know what gender mine is! Or how to tell which gender the albino one would be if I bought it at the store.
Is there any way of telling what sex this type of fish is?? Would they even get along?? (if they were the same size??)
PLEASE help.

please don`t even consider it. he will be bored but thats beacause his tank is so small :( i would be more inclined to rehome the irst one than to even consider getting another, the fisrts will probably kill it anyway as soon as it gets mature enough to realsie he was there in that tiny tank first.. thats if the water quality dosent ( very hard to keep clean in a tank that size with 2 such messy fish)
there isnt a way to sex them, well not that we recommend you try at home anyway..but as you cant afford the space for 1 nevermind 2 its not an issue.

minimum tank size for ONE oscar is 75uk gallons, please dont consider getting another. you should be looking to get a larger tank asap or consider rehoming your oscar :( it will grow very fast and soon will start to suffer due to the cramped conditions, it will become stunted in size though its internal organs will still try and grow to a normal size, slowly killing the fish in a painful death.
sorry to give you the bad news but people really should research what size tanks they need for a specific fish BEFORE they buy them

the organs growing bigger than the fishes body isnt true, its been discussed in the scientific section many times.

nature wouldnt allow it and papers published have proven this fact further

but the fish wont be happy in the tank so get it rehomed!

did you ever see in the hybrid section i believe it was, the film of three oscar dumped in someones shop, who had been kept in a tank too small? all died (either through their stunted growth or were in such bad shape they were pts)

So how big of a tank should I buy?
Affording it won't be an issue. He's a couple inches right now and I want him to be healthy.

for 1, absolute minimum is 55g, but 75g is ideal. for 2, 90g at least.

bigger the better! when I replace my 2 oscars(died a couple of weeks ago) they have a 6x2x2 tank to play in and even then if they don't get along I'll need to rehome one.

Alright I'm gunna store him at my moms house til I can get it then.
Her tank is like 190 gal or something.. Thanks for the advice!
Feel like an idiot for not knowing how much bigger the little guy needed

When I get the bigger tank is there no possible way of sexing them at all?

Not easily no - most people who keep 2 together successfully only find out when one lays eggs.

Seriously in a bigger tank with maybe a plec or a school of silver dollars s/he will be fine.

Well see like, I'm bringing him/her to my moms house for sure.
In that tank there is like a 6 inch pleco, a molly, and a Gold Gourami.

So I'm really guessing the chilid is gunna eat the other guys..
but see I don't know. You think he will be fine temporarily with them?
