I bought a breeding colony of tiger hybrid endlers on ebay but they arrived showing some interesting colour variations, don't think they are a pure line but definately interesting and pretty fellows. Any comments greatly appreciated these are going to be an interesting breeding project I hope!
juvenile males
adult male

They are really pretty, not seen them before.
Good luck with the breeding!

All the other tigers I have seen in researching them are only yellow/black. Have not seen color variations in the red/green/blue/purple on them before. Will be posting pics of fry when they come and see how the colour variations turn up in each fry drop and selective breeding from there.

thats a shame but still wonderful fish.

looks like youve been given through backs, which are the ones that the breeder will never breed from to continue the line as it will just cause them problems in maintaining it, but theres nothing to say that this will happen to you as you kow you can select from them and breed again. nice to see that one seller actually does state that these were hybrids and not 100% pure though, which some people sometimes dont.

Seller did say they were breeding true from adrain H's stock, and these have been through the hands of a few breeders since adrian H originals and had not been crossed with anything other than other tiger hybrids. They were sold as hybrids but of a pure line from the original stock and I have a few doubts that they are but the colour variations are interesting. A few of the juvenille males have more typical tiger colouring but I do find the colour variations very pretty. I knew there would be some variation due to the original hybridisation with guppys but did not expect such a variation in colour throw backs. The seller has been understanding and great about all my queries regarding these slightly more colourful tigers and once the other half of the selling duo gets back from holiday I will find out more :).

ETA the male with the red spot was apparently one of their original males from the batch they received and they used him for breeding. The red spot was carried on to his offspring.

They must have settled in well as I just notice two new fry in the girls tank, most of the females were gravid when they arrived and it seems they have decided to start popping some new additions out. I am very happy they feel comfy enough to produce fry so early they have only been in the tank since wednesday afternoon!

Adrain HD is the best breeder of endlers but looks like to gotten the rejects there from the breeding stock, dump all the males apart from the very best 2 male's..........

Look for males with the best colour and stripes on the body and only use that.

Tigers are after all cross breed between endlers and guppies and have still able to devlope other colours like all fish, but to line breed them you need the best to work with.

The adult male pictured has the best colouring out of them all. As for dumping the other males they can live happily in my male tank for now I have some other homes lined up for them if necessary :)

that sounds good, always use the best male, and sure your friends will love the the rejects ;)

12 fry already so these guys are doing their best!!! :) Did not think they would settle so quickly the gravid females I got are doing their best to help the breeding project along bless them.
babies!

Now have a fry explosion! Very happy 30+ fry at this point my list of friends wanting fry will soon be exhausted! Managed to get hold of 10 more junvenille fish from a breeder who imported direct from Adrian H the males are colouring up very well so I will use these guys for future line breeding, this also should keep the genetics healthy and avoid inbreeding for now. A local LFS has shown interest in taking on a supply of fish so this should help keep the bills of keeping fish down a bit :)
