I have a new 200L tank. It is doing well. I have 5 Tiger Barbs, 4 small catfish and 2 Dwarf Sucking Catfish. They are all getting on well. I want to add more stock. I keep coming up against a brick wall when trying to get advise on what to add everybody informs me that its differcult to add stock with the Tiger Barbs. HELP! As anybody got suggestions as to what to add.

Assuming your tank is fully cycled and everything..

Your priority should be another 10 tiger barbs.

It is very difficult to stock against 5 tiger barbs, but not that bad to stock with 15. You should look at a pair of Kribs, for example. What are the catfish and the dwarf sucking catfish?

catfish are bronze corydoras 2 being albino. the larger other 2 catfish were sold to me as algae feeders they suck to the side of the tank and orniments.

In that case, your second priority should be to get another 2 normal bronze Corys and another 2 albino: they are also schooling fish!

Are the algae feeders plecos? Google for images.. if they are, they have to have additional feeding on a regular basis as they can't survive on the algae of one tank.

Ideally, you can have something along the lines of..
* 15 tiger barbs
* 8-12 bronze Corys (split 50:50 between the two colour morphs)
* pair of Kribs
* 1m dwarf gourami (or 1m 2f dwarf gourami if your tank has plenty of plant cover at the top of the tank and is at least 3ft long)

That's not a 100% full stocking, but is a pretty good long term plan.

15 tiger barbs will look excellent, i kinda wish i had gone that route in mine but instead have neons/black neons and bleeding heart tetras as my dither fish :| big single groups are far better, i might look at rehoming my neons and getting some more bleeding hearts.
