Ahh well, mine live with Gurami, and many other fish, so i would say yes, but everyone's experience is different.

Id def never put Tiger Barbs in anything bar a species tank, they are a royal pain in the arse, they nip, chase, and bite anything and everything they can catch.

for some reason any time I have kept tiger barbs they some how ended up becoming food I don't know if its the fact that my cichlids have mouths that are bigger than the entire tiger barbs body or what

I've kept tiger barbs with gourami's for years so long as you have a few tigers then thay usually keep to there shoal, also put two firemouths in recently and they are ok too for now probably won't be if they pair up though

I've kept 3 different tiger barbs with 2 honey dwarf and 2 powder dwarf guramis in a 30G with no problems whatsoever. Of course YMMV depending on your species of guarami and tank size, environment etc.

I have 8 TB's in with my Green Terror and he ignores them. They are in fact the only fish other than catfish that he will tolerate, anything else i've tried have had to be immeditaley removed.

I always think that in cases like this, they are not perceived as a threat by the bigger, more aggressive fish and are therefore ignored. It was certainly a risk though and with cichlids you never know, i could come home one day to a tank with no Tiger barbs.
