ok so maybe Furry isn't the correct word but im finding it hard to describe. every few days some of the barbs in my tank have a slightly "mat finish" to them the light reflects of them differently and i have thought it could be fungal ar some disease but it comes and goes regularly if anyone can shed some light on this situation it would be much appriciated

Need alot more info, on size of tank in gallons or litres, how many fish and which type, water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
You do not describe where the matt finish is on the fish, does it look fluffy, check the gills for redness, paleness, or excess mucas on them.
Any signs of laboured breathing or flicking and rubbing against objects.

hi
our barbs sometimes look a different colour & especially when they have their dorsal fin up & are getting ready for a little 'nose to nose' combat - is this what you mean??? also ive also noticed that sometimes our green tigers look a little different - darker or lighter for short periods of time dont know if its something to do with their mood or not (& i dont mean a very dark green colour that stays as ive seen this with a sick tiger barb that was also listless)
