How many tiger barbs can u put In 10 gal of water and how big do they get.

Does anybody know anything about a 3 coloured fish that has widow in its name.

I wouldn't put any tiger barbs in a 10Gal.
I've read they need a 30G minimum because they do better in groups and are semi aggressive :)

As above, I wouldn't put any in a 10g. They get to decent size and are best kept in large groups. You can read more about them HERE.

The only widow fish I can think of is a black widow tetra but I don't think it has 3 colors. Hopefully someone else can say, sorry :(

I remembered the name it's coloured widow
And I would think do the barbs

No they are not they have different colours on the top and bottom with see through center. The colours vary from fish to fish.

Those 'coloured widows' are dyed. The dye is injected into the fish which, as well as being very, very stressful for the fish (many don't even survive the process :( ) seriously compromises their long term health. The only natural colour the widow tetra comes in are black/silver and albino/white. There are no species of fish that naturally vary in colour like that.

I would very strongly advise you not to buy any; apart from not supporting the trade in these fish, you won't be getting healthy, long lived fish. The colours will fade after a few weeks or months as well.

I agree also about the tiger barbs. I kept tigers for years, and wouldn't like to see them in anything less that a 3'/100l/20 gallon. They're a very chunky fish, once they're fully grown :)

That is what I had thought as well...

Sean, can you post any pics of the fish or provide a link to some? It may be that the common name in use is different from what we know them as.
