I introduced a school of 6 tiger barbs to my 80l planted tank yesterday, along with 2 corys
Woke up this morning and noticed that they are hiding in the back of the tank, hiding between sowrd plant and near the CO2 airstone from DIY bottle.
Ocasionally they swim near the bottom of the tank, also at the back. Corys are doing the same, 2 of them hiding between plants and not goin to the front of the aquarium.

I tried to feed them half an hour ago, but they just don't seem interested in food at all.

All readings in my tank seem fine
NO3 is around 10
NO2 0
ph is 7.4
kh around 5..
water temperature is 25C
Is this behaviour normal for the new environment or should I be worried?

I will monitor the situation the next couple of hours.
Please help

Just took a photo of them hangin in the tank corner

Also noticed that one of them has his left gill "hangin" strangely, like it's beeen chopped off or somethin, but it is working alright i think, also visible on hte photo.

All fish take time to acclimate to a new tank. They're just freaked out and trying to hide from the world. Your corys might not ever get un-freaked out as they're shoaling fish and you only have the two of them.
(btw look into getting a diffuser for your co2 system, airstones don't work well at all for it)

Thanks cathode!
What do you think about the left gill that seems damaged on the pic above...

looks like the gill cover is damaged or swollen. should I put it to quarantine?

Probably wouldnt hurt to put him into quarantine and dose with a bit of melafix to see if it would heal up a bit. Then again, it could just be a birth defect in which case if theres no exposed flesh he should be fine.

I just put him in 20l quarantine tank with bit of water from the main tank and the rest is tap water dechlorinated and cleared of heavy metals. I will keep him there a bit to see if his behaviour changes. I raised temperature to 28C in q. tank. The only problem is that its filter is brand new not cycled.

little update...transfer to quarantine tank is done. i managed to take one fresh pic from his left side. not so goood quality so i altered it a bit in photoshop. it is still no perfect but check it out. poor fella has no eye!!! :hyper:

Does the fish flick and rub itself on things in the tank.
Something eating away at the fish if he's got gill damage and eye damage, could be a parasite with a bacterial infection on top.

He just acts normal, as other barbs in the tank do. No rubbing and no flicking.
Could it be from the injury sustained in the fight with other tigers?
I don't know how smart is it to put him back in tha main tank after we observe it in quarantine.

I would treat him with a bacterial med for now.
Yes leave him in isolation for now.
