In the middle of the night, i was checking on my fish (one of those fishy nightmares) and I found one or two of my tiger barbs sleeping totally vertically, nosedown. Once I had found all three, who were really well hidden, I did see one looked pale, but after swimming around a little, he did perk up. Should I be worried?

Ammonia - 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - ?
pH - 7.4
temp - 78

Nothing to worry about, they do go pale when they are asleep.

Update: I just went in my room and found him up near the top, just hanging out near the top of the tank, not really swimming around. He is now off in my hospital tank, i'll post back in a bit what I see...giving him some time to calm down.

Test your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, what size tank how many fish, have they been flicking and rubbing on objects, are they heavy breathing and are the gills red and inflamed.

ammonia - 0, nitrite - 0, pH 7.4

I watched the fish for a while, and saw nothing indicating illness when he was in the hospital tank. I'm beginning to think that I have one HIGHLY agressive barb, who basically chases the others around the tank. I happened to walk in and find one who had just been chased, so was recovering at the top of the tank. I did see the domineering one doing this to the third barb while checkign the others health, and the chasee up at he top of the tank trying to recover.

guess it was a false alarm. Right now, I've got Mr. Agressive off in the hospital tank until I can get a few more to spread out his bullying.

Yes i would add some more, he's stresssing them out, good luck.

Don't no much about barbs never kept them, but they are agreesive to one another, that's why it's best to have more of them, hope it all turns out well in the end.

 , don't stress him to much as they like to be in groups, he won't like it on his own, and will cause stress to him, you can't win sometimes..

Any idea on how I can win this one? the other two fish are VERY happy with Mr. Agressive out of the tank. Their fins are back up, they are active, and are actually swimming with the danios. Not bullying them, just swiming with them, at the danio's leisure pace. With Mr. Agressive in the tank, he is happier, but is bullying and really stressing the other two out. I'm gonna try to get to the LFS tomorrow, but I am working and its a 45 min. drive. The only one closer is HORRIBLE, i always see diseased fish when I am in there, employees know nothing, dead fish, etc. Basically, its maybe a half step up from walmart, if that says enough :S

Keep the aggressive one out of the tank for the night, but he won't be happy, and get some others as soon as possilbe, it let the two one's be happy, or lose them to stress and cause desease in the tank.
