i'm thinkinng of getting rid of my fish and getting a group of 6 juvi firemouths, then once i have a pair get rid of the rest.

would firemouths eat neon tetras? (i want a schooling fish also and neons are by far the cheapest)
also is it difficult to breed firemouths?

Breeding firemouths are real easy, just like convicts IMHO. But why would you want to breed these fish? There is not a market for them from home breeders. Why no try a more rare thorychthis species?

I have a female firemouth, she lays eggs at the drop of a hat! The thing is I dont have a male, she will try and spawn with anyone!

firemouths are actually hard to find here, i only know of 1 lfs that stocks them occasionally. and meeki is the only thorichthys that can be legally imported afaik

i got a apair of firemouths. they are only babies still. they have paired up but to young to spawn yet. i am hoping ti have a go a breeding these fish also. i think they are stunning fish.
