Thoughts? Would this be selfish or selfless?

I already posted on my tank journal, but I might be down-grading my fish from a 47 gallon tank to a 29 gallon tank.
I think it'd be better for the fish and for me in my situation.
Either that or I might rehome my fishes and tank.
Pros:
More length to swim
Room for better tank mates
Easier water changes/water changes more often
Cons:
Stress of moving to a new tank/new tank mates

Thoughts?

I think that's totally fine. As long as the fish you have now would be fine in a 29g then I think that there's nothing wrong with it.

If it's better for the fish, and better for you, it's neither selfless, selfish or even shellfish. It's not that much work, and it would seem to save work. That's key because if for whatever reason we stop caring for our tanks, then creatures die.

What are the dimensions of your 47 in a 29 is bigger?

The pros definitely outweigh the cons

Honestly the idea of having less water I can’t see a benefit, longer tank is a plus thought I don’t know what fish you keep or what filtration you have but the size of water changes will stay the same , if the bio load is the same then water changes will stay the same , you will possibly have to do more water changes because the water volume is less , just because the water space isn’t being used it’s still there , for example you could have a 1000g tank and yes the fish only use 30g but the dilution is still there . I would never downgrade volume personally
