well i started off my 35g with these fish:
a pair of bolivian rams
a pair of kribs
a congo tetra
3 oto's
3 khuli loahces

well it seems my kribs are trying to breed since my male krib hasnt been too nice, hes killed my congo tetra and completly abused my bolivian rams.

so i moved my bolivian rams to a heavily planted 10g which they will be staying with 1 ghost shrimp.

and the kribs arent annoying the khulis or oto's so im alright for now.

but now that its pretty much only the 2 kribs as fish (the khuli's always hide in the driftwood...noctornal) and the male is always chasing the female until she runs back into the nest. im pretty sure she doesnt want this and ive been told that when other people were breeding kribs that they put in dither fish for the male to keep busy with?

any suggestions? if i get more kribs will it just cause a bigger problem? anything?

5?
Maybe 6?
Is there anything else you are planning on adding to the tank?

but it seems like so much to read ;)

how many zebra danios should i buy?
So i take it you did little research before buying these fish?
Ill summarize the important bit for you.
When buying dwarf cichlids, from anywhere, any kind, you must remember that they need 10g PER FISH. And since they do not do well by themselves, they should be kept in male female pairs(besides Apistos) so therfore a tank of 20 gallons in the bare minimum for a pair of dwarf cichlids.
And each time you add a pair, your tank must have an extra 20 gallons/foot print etc for them. So you had two pairs of dwarf cichlids that could go off at anytime(they're not as peaceful as you think, they get VERY teritorial.) in a 35 gallon tank when you need a 40 gallon.
5 gallons can make all the difference.

I'm sorry for your situation, but it's not like we didn't tell you this was going to happen. Several of us told you that keeping 2 pairs of cichlids in a 35g was going to be a probem. I understand that the pinned topics are a lot to read, but they would have kept you out of the situation. Again, sorry, but...

why didnt you just put the kribs in the ten
and leave the rams ????

alright alirhgt lets calm down.

i know i made a mistake but im trying to fix it now.

the kribs are alone in the 35g right now and there are 5 zebra danios floating in a bag to be let out.

in the 10g i only have the 2 bolivian rams and ill look inot an upgrade....happy now?

...never thought id been on this end of the stick

probably because the kribs are bigger, meaner fish. putting breeding kribs into a 10g is very dangerous for the female; she needs A LOT more space than a 10g to escape from the male if he starts getting aggresive.

Wow... Been told a diff story from the people in aqua world :(

i was told in my 45g tank i could keep say 3 pair of blue rams and 3 pair of kribs as long as i had plenty of caves and rocks for each to class as a Territory got each fish.

wow am i glad i never went ahead with that plan!
