So I noticed today that I have two more berried females and they were next to the glass so I wanted to get a shot of them. That was supposed to be the focus of this pic but LOOK WHAT I FOUND! Total accident but there are 2 baby assassin snails in the pic! And now that I am looking there are two more in the tank! How cool is that, 4 babies?!?! I only started with 3 in the tank and it has only been running for 3 months!

OMG I just found a 5th one!!! I am way to excited about this!
WOW there are 7 total!!! 7 babies!!!

Congrats, a very saleable item them assassins. Not worth a vast amount but fairly reliable sellers.

Thanks! Will the adults eat the babies?

Quite frankly I have no idea. Not that I'm aware of but assassin snails melt in my soft water tanks and don't seem to like living in my tap water tanks so I have no experience of breeding them.

Rob- throw some crushed coral into the tank and they would do better.

Baby assassins hide in the substrate until big enough when they emerge. I bet you have a lot more. I have never seen them cannibalize their young. That alone does't mean they don't. Somebody else weigh in please on that.

Got some more shots of these little guys. My husband thinks I am weird for being this excited about snails but I wasn't even trying to breed them and didn't think it was possible in this kind of substrate!

Good luck with your entry into the contest! I would wonder though if people were thinking you were entering the shrimp? In visual arts, generally the object that takes up the most space has the most presidency.

I bought 4 assassins about 4 months ago, I easily have 25+ now ;-) I've removed all of them from one tank so their food can breed, I then put the food snails into the assassins tank to keep them fed ;-) they do fine in my soft water tanks;-)

Pets at home sell them for 2 for £9, but you will probably get no more than £1 each when they grow bigger ;-)

I don't think they cannibalize, I left aroind 15 of different sizes with no food snails for a few days while they bred and I think they are all there ;-)

Good luck anyway

I wondered that too. Its a good pic regardless so I don't care which one they vote for! LOL Of course I doubt that I would beat a yellow tang!

That's really cool! I can't wait till they get bigger. I figured I couldn't get much for them though it would be awesome if someone gave me euro for one! Not planning on selling them as I didn't even know I was going to have them. I think the coolest thing is I didn't know they were there until I looked at that first pic on the computer.

Aww congrats and welcome to the baby boom! You start with a few and next thing you know they are everywhere! Good luck with them!
