It looks like you have some water lettuce in with the duckweed too. Guppies ought to be happy in a tank like that Krib.

Thanks Oldman! I am tempted to move a sponge filter into the tank and move the power filter to my other 30g ( give it twice hte filtration) as the flow is messing with the plants and it's getting stuck on the sponge. Do you think it'd be better to just put in a sponge fitler? (obviously cycled).

My guppy fry tend to hide out near the top of the tank after they've been dropped and my platy fry hide near the bottom, but thats just mine :)

Good luck with yours :)

I use lots of sponge filters in tanks where I am breeding and getting fry. It serves a few purposes. It protects the fry, it collects waste and grows infusoria for newborns to feed on, it is an excellent biological filter. A HOB or a canister is more appropriate on a tank full of adults, not one where there will be fry.

Yeah. I'm going to move the filters tonight. It needs to be done! I doubt the lab fry will argue with more filtration!

I put the sponge filter in. I also put in a power head (with a fre filter on). The sponge on the actual filter had alot of plants dead or dying on it. They were floating all over the tank. So, I put in the powerhead. Once it's cleaned everything up, I will take the sponge out and empty it of all the waste. I also put in some rocks for the Brichardi. The guppies look fine, thank God!

I just wanted to update. The guppies look rgeat. The male sustained some fin damage from one of the Brichardi (the Brichardi was being bullied, so he was at the top of the tank, and took a bit out of the guppies tail). But,the male is recovering beautifully, and the females look great. I have yet to see fry.

Thanks! They are still looking great. I'm very happy. Unfortunately, I lostmy last swordtail today.
