hey everyone

not sure if anyone read my post yesterday. i visited my local pets@home on my lunch break and had to get this poor lad/lass.

he/she was looking skinny, stressed ( i would be with loads of kribs 3 times my size after me )

i presume its a ram,but its very yellow. if it turns out not to be a ram im not to bothered,as since its been in my tank,it looks so much better!!

i also got 2 tiny panda corys while i was in there, the 2 i got were in with small oscars!!

Yep indeed a ram, does look kinda yellow, which makes me wonder if its a hybrid of a gold and GBR, if indeed thats possible, which I presume it is. Of course could just be stressed not suprising really and may change colour as it settles and grows.

cool,thanks for that.

can i ask, are you using your fx5 on full flow? and where are you aiming the outlet nozzle too? mine is causing major currents. ive tried everything!!

i may have to remove the internal, that isnt helping neither,or just not use it,lol

Mine is on full flow, the outlets are pointed one towards the front of the tank, one running along the back of the tank, plus Ive got a fluval 4+ in there maturing right next to the outflow, seems fine to me, even the rasboras can swim in front of it without problems. Maybe you should move it, so its output is the opposite side to the internal? Or like you say, remove the internal, I removed mine, took about 30 seconds with a sharp long knife to cut away the back of the silicone, didnt even leave any silicone on the sides.

i thought gold and GBR were different colour strains of the same species? :X

Yes its 100% Bolivian Ram-Mikrogeophagus altispinosus. I am 90% sure its female

Maybe it is a cross between a Bolivian and a Gold Ram :)

I agree it looks female. My female Bolivian is rather white.

Bolivians tend to be generally sliver but do colour up and become more golden, when ready to breed. Its not a cross breed 100% Bolivian Ram.
