Well, haven't been on this in ages!:'D Oh well, thinking of doing a 5 gallon betta tank, could I have shrimp? I thought not but in the pet shop they have them?!

It depends on the individual betta; some will live with shrimps but others won't.

Mmm... Dunno...

I don't speak from personal experience (I'm sure someone who has will come along soon), but I was thinking of getting a betta and I have done quite a bit of reading.

From what I understand it's very much down to the individual betta. Generally they will eat the shrimp, but occasionally you get a fish that won't. If you get large amano shrimps, that are larger and more aggressive than other species, they have a better chance of survival.

... and now to the betta experts to confirm my research or inform me I've been reading in the wrong place.

I think I might get it set up, get a betta then add a few shrimp like 2, see if they survive for a few days then add more!:'D Thanks!

I have cherry shrimp in with two of my Bettas.
It was touch & go to start with & a couple of shrimp got munched, but now they ignore them.
It does depend on the individual Bettas temperament

Happy days, I'm going to get a betta, always wanted one:'D and then I'll just try it out with shrimp:)
