Yeah, he will often be seen like that, he hasnt started tailbitng yet though, the plastic in his other tank ripped his fins, thats why they are so short, they are usually about a half inch, to an inch longer
A wild splendens need not deal with those fins. That is just what we have done to them through selective breeding. A wild looks a lot more like a plakat, which is a bit closer to the wild.
My newest boy is I think a plakat & is much more active than my others which are veil tails & a crowntail.
He swims around the tank a lot & hardly ever rests on the plants like the others.
If I get any more they'll be the shorter finned varieties
