I have a 20w light for my 25 gallon tank giving me 0.8wpg.
I dose PlantaMin every week, 5ml. - No nitrates or phosphates in this because the packaging says it causes algae *facepalm*, do I need to supply extra nitrate and phosphate?

I've read CO2 is only necessary for people with like 2wpg. I've also read that it helps in any aquarium.
Is this so?

What are the risks of me trying the 6 cups of water, 2 cups of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon yeast, 2 litre coke bottle method?
Is it in any way going to put my fish at risk?
How much increase in growth speed will I notice? (I have an airstone so some CO2 will come from the air in that?)

Finally, would you recommend it? Do the benefits outweigh the risks and maitenance?
Thanks.

bin the plantamin...its **** nitrates and phosphates do not cause algae...buy some tropica plant nutrition+

diy CO2 shouldnt cause any problems as it doesnt produce enough to cause a lethal percentage of CO2 in a tank your size...you will need a few bottles mind as it wont be very affective in a 25 gallon tank. your mixture sounds okay just make sure the water is about 30 oc as to activate the yeast.

there arent any risks unless your check valvue falls off and siphones your tank away. if it becomes blocked it WILL explode eventually
