Thinking Of Getting A Siamese Fighter

I have got a 90l tank which is heavily planted, with slate and bogwood in there too. Mainly for my l134's I have 3 of them!

I have got about 30 tetras in there and a couple of pygmy corys.

Basically I have spotted an amazing Fighter on ebay and its close to me so I can go pick it up! my question is will i be able to put one of them in my tank??

5 blue tetras quite active they are my doubt
10 glowlight
10 Neon



Roughly lol maybe a few more neons aint counted in a while

i say go for it, trial and error, if for some reason he takes a disliking to them or them to him just have a back up plan! they can be unpredictable sometimes..

keep an eye on the blue tetras in particular as tehy ae known to be nippy little things!

It always risky adding bettas to a community tank.

My mum has a splenden that killed all her neons, she ended up gettin black neons and they seem to be fine.

Just be ware!

Why not try some wild bettas I have betta smaragdina in my community tank an they are very peaceful.

Not that I'm touting for business but give me a shout if your interested I'm selling some hopefully in a months time when they colour up.

Agreed ! I've had it work, and had it definately not work. Give it a go, but have a plan B for the betta.

Ha I like that fish too (he was listed on the site and 'sold for 99p' then he went back up at £5) - I like the look of him (my advice would be to ask for a better picture as you can't see the front of him to make sure he is ok). Good luck with getting him (that seller has a few fish at reasonable prices too ).

I keep my Betta splendens in community situations and find that they are nice peaceful citizens in their homes. One is a resident of an endler 45 gallon community and is a total failure. His job is to help me control the incessant breeding of the endlers and he lets far too many survive. I have even watched him at feeding time sit face to face with a newborn endler and just eat the flake food that I offer him while the endler fry also eats some.Both fish seem to think the other fish is no threat and very little temptation.
I have seen lots of posts from people who claim that a Betta splendens is some kind of aggressive monster but have never experienced that aspect of a betta in my over 50 years of fish keeping.
