if i can get my dad to let me have a betta im gonna get one. i need to some of the basics and any advice u have and what equipment i need.

heres my list of what to get:
1 gal glass aquarium
aquarium heater pad
declhorinater
flakes
fake silk plant
gravel
test kit

anything else i need? any food favorited by betta? any other advice would help

i would not recommend flakes for bettas. they cloud the water and in my experience bettas just dont like them. get hikari bio-gold pellets. i also recommend hikari freeze dried blood worms. they have added vitamins.
for dechlorinators i would recommend amquel and novaqua (using them together)

I wouldent bother getting fake silk plants, your betta would appreciate REAL plants, they really like floating plants, you can get low lighting ones like Java Moss, Java Fern or Riccia, real plants help to maintain good water quality as well as adding oxygen to the water and also soft for the bettas, they love to snuggle and sleep in floating plants, you can also rooted plants that require very little light. I dont think there is any point in gettting a test kit if your going to only house him in one gallon, by rule you would need to change his water twice a week. I feed my bettas hikari micro pellets as well as mosquito lavae. For such a small tank put very little gravel alot of ppl dont even put any gravel, this will help to keep your water cleaner and its easier to vaccum out the poop.

most pet stores dont carry java moss, java fern or riccia. i think i saw java fern once but that was about it.
