hi there had malawis before but didnt have bristlenose then i have L182 ones
thinking abt going bk to malawis so wld like to know can i keep the bristlenose L182 in with them or not
i know they like different water
let us know as if i cant will not turn my 77x17x18 ins tank malawis

and will just used my corner tank 252ltrs and sale the common bristlenose that i have in there as wld like to keep thegroup of L182 as i like them more then the common ones

hope u can understand this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Some people keep bristlenoses with malawis, but I wouldn't recommend it myself, because of the different water quality requirements like you've mentioned and also due to aggression, mbuna would probably finish off a bristlenose.

i did think that ill post wot fish will be having they will only be fry as my m8 breeds them and i can have some from him at the moment have fish in my tank one of my tanks will become malawi tank depends wot one it will be

I have 3 plecs in my tank with my cichlids, a bn, a Leopard frog plec & a brown dot plec with no problems whatsoever.

in my tank 77x17x18 ins
eheim pro 3 2080
air pump 6 out lets 840ltrs hour
300watts rena heater
loads of bogwood
loads of caves
gravel

royal pleco x3
clown pleco x4
bristlenose L182 x 12
other fish is
mollys x3
gubbies x4

19 plecs?....Wow.

Anyway, if you are going to go with Malawis, I'd lose the bogwood.

yes m8 but will have to have one or two in there becuose of pleco but i have another tank that has bristlenose in common ones may turn that tank in to a malawi tank that way only need to sale the bristlenose and other common fish as thats a good size tank corner tank is 252 ltrs

Kept Malawi and Tanganyikan... always had at least 1 bristlenose and never had a problem.

Infact, i recently lost all my fish in a tanganyikan setup due to the water board changing pipes in my area... but the bristlenose still survived!

seanie,
You need to clean up your typing. It's hard to read.

Anyways, I feel the common consensus is YES bristlenoses are ok w/mbuna. Do I have them yet, no, but intend on getting 2 albino bn's after I switch the tanks around.
