i have gravel right now but i really like how the aquariums with sand look so thinking of switching over. what is the depth i should lay it in at when i add it. i have livebearers and 4 cories and 2 loaches

You will need about an inch maybe a little more.
thank you i went to another site got a calculation if i did 2 inches. from what i had figured with that i would need one of play sand bag and a little bit so if i just do over and inch than one bag will do good.

the bags i am looking at are 20kgs and i do not know that brand or make of my aquarium but do have the dimentions its 29L 12.5 w 16 D so by rights with my 20 kgs i should be over an inch i figure but its cheap so might just buy two bags for insurance reasons just incase it doesnt spread like that calculator said it would. i thank you very much for your help

Sand is actualy better for cories than gravle. Gravle can wear down thier barbs and scratck up their bellies.
Here is a tip for cleaning sand before you put it in your tank- I put mine is a bucket with water in it. I swish the sand and water around with my hands. Gunk and stuff floats near the top and I just poor it out, and put more water in the bucket. I do this untill the water looks clean.
