lol well I go buy scientific research that isn't trying to flog something with their findings. But with that said I just had a read through your bottled bacteria cycling thread and thought it was one of the most hilarious reads ever. Oh and another thing, how big is the tank, 50 gals?
I/anyone can put 5 cory cats in less with no fishless cycling whatsoever, not even the emperors new clothes method (or "bottled bacs" as they are more commonly know) with a filter and they would be fine.
You have obviously being reading between the sentences as usual. Hope you that's not the way you do science yourself.
It is actually 6 corys and a pleco in about 300 litres of water. And you reckon I should have skipped the fishless cycling as that amount of fish would be just fine without it. Well....Thanks for the advise. I think you should re-write the fishless cycling section in the beginners forum.

I go on what I experience and what other people experience and weigh it up. Bottle bacs don't work for me and I have never read conclusively that they have worked for someone else. Fish can survive a cycle. I just think it's better to avoid putting them through it wherever possible.

300 liters is roughly 80 gallons with 6 cory cats and a pleco? Surely your super bacs can handle more than that?
I found your thread hilarious for a number of reasons. Like the fact that you never put your ammonia count to 5ppm or the fact that through all those pages it never occurred to you that you were doing a fishless cycle-light (light because your A count was like 1-2ppm) What would have been a great test would be to soak you filter media in the bottled bac of your choice (say over night) add the filter ad the excess water/bottled stuff. Then raise the ammonia to 5ppm and test in 12-24 hours then post the results. In fact, no need. It has been done several times on other forums and the result was still 5ppm. After our last debate over this topic you were determined to prove the existence of your special bacs but again, all you did was a fishless cycle.
But alas, this hobby of ours is a very selfish endeavor. You've got to pursue what works for you and if special bacs is your thing then who am I to tell you otherwise. Good luck with it and congrats on the cories!

You should have stopped the debate before you stated that I shouldn't have bothered cycling my tank if I intended to put a few corys and a pleco.
Since you have a relevant degree, why don't you enlighten all of us how much ammonia does an inch of fish produce in a 24 hours interval?
