I would put her in a breeding trap now lol, she is ready..

my other female platy is a little big bigger than her too, guess im going to have a lot a little fry, i hope, first time having platys they were a christmas present im lovin them

oh wow she is big almost looks like a balloon molly LMAO
i recommend getting a tank divider and not a breeder box, it will stress her out. i learned the hard way with them :(
good luck!

i don't recommend breeder boxes, just let her drop then scoop the fry up when she is done and relaxed a bit.
even if you loose some fry it's okay cus looks like she will have over 80 LOL.

There is nothing wrong with breeding traps, as long as you dont leave them in to long.. you find most pregnant fish when ready to drop, put in to a trap they just relax and drop no problem (they dont fight to get out usually cos there probably happy for the privacy)

Everyone to thier own though :)

I agree, breeding traps are just fine. When my females look like they are going to drop, especially if I find a fry in the tank or the female is hiding a lot, I put her in the breeding trap. If she doesn't have any (more)fry in a day, I release her. Then put her back in once I see more fry and leave her until she done. I haven't lost any mommies yet.

I hope you have better luck with your platy than I do mine. I have a dwarf platy that is that huge and it's been a month that she's been taht size and STILL no fry!!!! Good luck and congrats!

Personally, I don't use breeding traps to house the pregnant fish, just the fry until they are big enough to fend for themselves.
