just a follow up, as I haven't mentioned them in a while... I started with 6 or so, of them, and by the time everything shook out, I now have 4 thriving in my South American Tetra tank... the biggest one is now close to 4 inches long... a little longer than the mature palmeri's, but not quite as heavy... I suspect none are mature yet, but they seem to be taking to the environment I set up for them...

Seriously Fish says "Generally 50 – 55 mm, although some forms can attain 70 mm"

and...

"This species is currently the only described member of its genus although colour pattern and morphology vary considerably across its range."

sounds like this one is in need of more study, as large as mine are, and not appearing mature yet... I suspect they'll be dividing these guys up, in the future???

they like the shadows, so it's hard to get a good picture...

these are back in stock, from the seller I bought mine from...

fish are maturing and getting out and around the tank more still not a good picture, as the tank is shaded but here is one of the larger ones center tank, just in front of a spotted silver dollar, that one looks like it's nearing 4 inches...

so my group ( turns out there are actually 5 of them ) are still thriving... I have one fish, that is a little smaller, darker, and has more variety of spots and color on the tail, and a few on the dorsal, and tends to hang by itself... curious as to your thoughts, a slower growing male, or perhaps a different variety... again sorry for the less than stellar photo quality... dark tank, and shy fish... the others don't seem to have all the spots on the finage
