I noticed today my dalmation molly seems to have white spots on his front fins, but with him being black and white its hard to tell if its his colouring that i just never noticed before, or if its ich. So do i just go ahead and put him in the quarentine tank and treat him for ich or should i treat the whole tank ?

you are now going to have to treat the whole tank cause once one fish has ich they all do,well thats been the case for me

Ya thats what i figured only thng is if its not ich and its just the fishes colouring i hope im not going to stress out the fish unnecessarily.

Have a close look at your "sick" fish. Ich is not just a color, it actually makes slightly raised bumps on the skin where the spots are. If it is just color and not raised at all, it may just be a color.

Well i ended up treating the whole tank for ich yesterday just incase. This morning there was no change but when i got home from work it seems he had a long string hanging from his fins. So it seems i have misdiagnosed the poor chap and have put him in my quartine tank with some fungus meds hopefully this works.

Checked on my molly and his spots are all gone YAY!!! but he has only been in the quartine tank with the fungus meds for 24 hrs, but the med bottle says to wait 48 hrs then redo meds and wait another 48 hrs then do waterchange and put in carbon. Should i wait that long? or can i put him back in the main tank now?

If you don't want to follow the instructions the first time, you probably will choose to next time. That will be along about next week when you find out he really isn't cured.

Well it wasnt really about NOT wanting to folowing the instrctions im just worried about my fish swimming in meds for 4 days, if he really doesnt need too, but from the sounds of it he does so in funky green water he will swim for another 3 days ...lol Thanks

The thing about many treatments is that they often make a dramatic improvement in the fish's appearance fairly quickly. The recommended course of treatment is meant to make sure the fish is healthy and won't have a relapse. It is never safe to ignore the time that is recommended.
