Thick Green Algae Growing On The Sand

Well to combat this today I've left the lights off, and I think it's disintegrating. :dunno:

Might leave the lights off for a couple of days and then just siphon it all off.
 
Its growing so fast though literally everytime I go to the tank I see it increase.

That sounds like thread algae to me. I used to have the same problem with my Rekord 60. In my case I added a second tube, added a few more plants - crypts and anubias and my problem went away. If you are using the original tube that came with the Juwel, chuck it and get atleast a triphosphor warm daylight lamp.

Add filter floss to your filter and do a 25% water change every week. This should help.

I vacced the majority of it earlier (it was much easier having left the light off for 2 days) and the sand looks so much better.

I'll be back here in a shot if it comes back mind you...
