I have two neon blue dwarf gouramis in my 20gal with a gold gourami and an angelfish. Everything has been perfectly fine up until now.

About a week ago I think, one of my dwarfs decided he didn't want to eat flakes anymore, so I switched him to bloodworms, and that only lasted a few days before he's decided to become anorexic and not eat at all.

I decided maybe it was the stress from the water change as they had a scare with the temperature right after the change so I thought the two things happening so close to each other, that it was just stress.

Well, now both of my dwarfs are sitting in the very corner of the tank, hiding in the plants. They won't eat, even when I dangle a live bloodworm in front of them. I've not yet had a fish that could resist something that was alive. They sit very close to the surface and are losing their colour. Their faces are an ugly grey now and their blue is very subdued.

I've had them for about 2 months now and this is my first problem, and also my first dwarfs. I have raised gouramis before, but never dwarfs and I heard that they are a little bit less hardy than regular gouramis....

Can someone please help me? I would take a picture, but they won't let me see them either. They swim away when they see me.

Please help if you can!!!

It sounds like an emergency.... Any other signs than the ones you mention? Dwarfs are prone to diseases due to stress. I currently have one myself that is suffering from an ulcer (small sore at the side of the mouth), which I hope it will recover from. I know that apart from the sore, the fish stops eating when the sickness is at an advanced stage.

Sorry for not being of much help. Please try to post this also in the emergency section. Unfortunately the gourami expert (Sylvia) is based in Europe (if I am not mistaken). You will have to wait until tomorrow for her to answer.
