Yes, I see what you mean. I will put a little flake food in the new tank/water to help it along the way and I won't transfer anyfish back until the water stats are ok - thats if I have any fish left by then Also, I could add some nutrafin cycle?
Do you think it would be better to start with fresh filter media anyway, and do a fishless cycle, I'm just wondering if any infection could be in the filter media?

Yes that what i was thinking, i would completely start again to be honest, just sterlise the sponges in the micowave in water a few times, i let them boil, keep changing the water, then let them dry out for aday.
Go to the beginners section on cycling a tank they will help you loads over there, good luck joanne.

Mmm, think thats what I will do, lfs said only small chance that the filter would harbour infection, but to be honest I don't want this again! I just hope the fish are gonna be ok in the hosp tank for that length of time, I will have to keep a close eye on the water won't I? I'll take a look on the beginners section for fishless cycle.

Keep an eye on stats, as small tank are the hardiest might have to do some water changes even daily,and try not to feed alot, good luck.
