Fish Gatherer
I gotta get some photos of this guy to show you all what I mean... about three weeks ago, standard-issue dodgy pet store, I had room for/could afford two more. The first was an easy decision, bent operculum on the right side. Obvious physical deformities always top my to-rescue list because nobody else seems to want them. The second... I picked this fella because he was a lot bigger than the others and looked more uncomfortable in the cup. He was tucked up the back out of the light where nobody could see him. He was a fairly boring greyish colour all over, had fight injuries and the usual complement of finrot and ammonia damage.
And oh boy have you gotta see him after three weeks in clean water with good food. The difference is startling. I wish i had a 'before' shot but unfortunately I only have 'afters'. This is why I maintain a healthy respect for veiltails, both as attractive fish and as gutsy little fighters.
I'll get some photos up... the difference is astounding.
