I am setting up a 5 gallon Fluval Chi the past week.It is going to house a betta,so I purchased an Elite 25watt submersible heater and a thermometer ( Exo Terra Liquid Crystal Thermometer ). After unboxing the thermometer, I read the top portion of the label only to discover that it was meant for a terrarium! Is this safe to put in my freshwater aquarium??

Is it this?
If so, they look like the LCD ones that you can get for aquariums, i dont see why you couldnt use it, but not inside the tank. Does it have a sticky reverse side, if so, you can stick it to the outside of the tank. People have said that these type of thermometer give falseish readings though, especially if the glass is thick. But personally, i quite like them (i've got two):good:

Is there a chance I can place this within the aquarium? And yes, this is the correct model.

After reading some reviews on Amazon (where I purchased this product)I went ahead and filled my Chi. Later, I placed the thermometer and heater I purchased. Now, I have to wait for the heater to accomidate the water temp. Thanks for the replies:)

Anything specifically made for a non-aquatic environment should not be used for an aquarium environment. It is that simple.
