Hi, For some reason the thermometer in my Tank is reading 27 celcius. I usually have it around 24-25. It's a Juwel heater and always had to play around to get it right.

Today the weather has started to get warmer. Quite noticeably. Are the Fish at risk. Is there anything I should be doing? I've attempted to turn the heater down, but as that takes a while I can't yet tell.

Most heaters that are somewhat new have thermometers built into them. If this is the case it should only be on when the tank is cooler than the setting you have it at. That being the case... you shouldn't ever have to adjust it.

Also, once a tank is established and the fish find the temperature pleasing... outside (outside the tank that is) weather conditions shouldn't have any effect (except regarding evaporation). But... since we are using electrical devices to alter conditions... we have to realize that problems happen and things break/wear out. If the thermostat on your heater goes out you could have cooked cories in no time.

Personally I would consider an accurate thermometer in every fish tank standard equipment. I bought a $4 pool thermometer for my large cichlid tank at home depot. This way I don't have to worry about them breaking it and I can check the temp at a quick glance. I've also made it a habit to glance at the temp whenever I feed or stop to look at my fish (which I do very frequently when I'm at home). 99% of the time it's not a concern, but that 1% is often fatal.

Hi. I check the temperature at the same time everyday when I turn the lights on. The thermometer I go by is a separate one which I place at the opposite end of the Tank to the Heater. It's an internal Sera one.
