Theory about algae and plants / Moss

I don't know if this is true, but since I had a lot of Moss growing in the tank, I haven't had so many problems with algae on
the glass. The string algae never came back at all after I treated it with 3chem, but there is some direct sunlight at an odd time of day,
so algae would always be a problem.

What I theorise is that the Moss acts like a "sponge" for excess Phosphates and other nutrients which doesn't allow the algae to run away.

Obviously, I have to add ferts for the plants, but I think any excess may be taken up by the moss. What do you reckon?

Yes, The moss will be using up what algae needs to grow but so do any plants. The more planted your tank is the less likely you'll get problems. However, You must always keep a balance with how much ferts and CO2 you add anyway.
