Okay, so I was browsing around today and ran across an old picture I took of Darby back in March. Comparing the picture of him to the way he is now is shocking! I never realized how colorless his fins were!
Lately I've noticed some pinholes in his fins, so I've been worried that he may have the beginnings of fin rot, which I'm treating with more frequent water changes and salt- in hopes that I won't have to use more drastic measures. But looking back at the old pictures, I wonder if he HAD fin rot, and is now recovering.
Either way, the change is pretty impressive. I thought it would be nice to post an update and get some feedback from other betta owners.
Then- Look how see-through his tail fin was! He looks so yellowish and sickly!
And now.
Then- An example of my unskilled use of the camera but another good shot of those fins.
And now.
Then- He sure loved his barrel decoration. But I thought I'd switch things up a little
and give him the tree. It frees up more swimming room, at the least. It needs to be
cleaned again though...
And now
Then- I couldn't resist adding these two pics.
And now
And last but not least, a picture of one of his pinholes. The one on his tail is the biggest one, and easiest to photograph, but he has some tiny spots on his anal fin that I can't seem to get a shot of.
Anyway, here goes.

He's my little baby.
I thought he was SOO beautiful when I first got him, I can't believe in comparison how much he's changed. Being a first-time fish keeper though, I guess it stands to reason I wouldn't have fully understood his potential in the beginning.
