well my parents have said my big tank can be heated as ive worked out the price properly (this time)

so im asking you guys for some ideas for my stocking its 9x3x3ft and has a 200 gallon sump

so is around 750 us gallons

heres what im going for in my head i want it pretty open plan with some small fake plants dotted around on the gravel with some marimo moss balls dotted about and some tall fake plants at the back and then ive got some rocks and im gonna have a few nice pieces of bog wood in the mid base and the base is pea gravel

heres the planned stock and hopefully you guys can help add a few to that list

300 cardinal tetras
30 angels
20 rainbows (any suggestions what type)
6 bn plecs
6 clown loaches
20 african dwarf frogs (dunno if i can have these tho?)
and any other suggestions

id love some corys but cant cause of the gravel

ad also like some tiger barbs but the anges and them would clash am i right?

300 Cardinal Tetra's... Oh my days :hyper:

I think Boesemani's would be a good, simple choice. Or possibly Ramu's?
I would of recommended Clown Loaches anyways, maybe more than 6? Or maybe even another type of Loach aswell?
Im surprised your going for BN's aswell, but would be a good choice nonetheless.

What about 100 Cardinal, 100 Rummy-nose & 100 Pristella Tetra?... No seriously?

Just my thoughts :good:

James.

Sounds great. i would stick to one group of tetra i think 1 massive group will look better than a few small ones. Im pretty sure the ADF will get bullied out of food by the clown loaches.
I would throw in a few pairs/groups of cichlids just for some more colour.
Something like
300 cardinal tetras
30 angels
20 rainbows red rainbows or 40 threadfin or dwarf neon rainbowfish
6 bn plecs (2male 4females)
8 clown loaches
15 Apistogramma 5 males 10 females . I would go for apistogramma agassizzii
2 pairs of keyhole cichlid
2 pairs of Red-Breasted Acara
3 pairs of Dwarf Flag Cichlid

Aslong as the gravels not to sharp corys should be fine. Or instead you could go for a big group of hoplo catfish.

100 of 3 species isn't exactly small
Good shout with the Dwarf Cichlids, Apistogramma Agassizzi would be a decent choice.
My only worry would be the Angel's, would they not have a slight snack on the Tetra's possibly?

Haha. i know its not small i just mean i think one massive shoal would look alot better.
They shouldnt do anything bigger than a adult neon tetras normally seen as safe

thanks for the ideas i also think same species tetra would look cooler too

hmmm i like that list but what about this
300 cardinal tetras
30 angels
40 dwarf neon rainbowfish
6 bn plecs (2male 4females)
8 clown loaches
15 kribs (5 males - 10 females)
2 pairs of keyhole cichlid
2 pairs of red-breasted acara
3 pairs of Dwarf Flag Cichlid
50 corys of mixed types

any more room?

Wow!! I can't wait to see this tank once you have it going! I love that someone with such a big tank is going for smaller species for once- the colours are going to be absolutely amazing! :good:

I dont think kribs would fit in to well. They do get very agressive when breeding and just wouldnt fit in IMO. If you dont want the apistogramma i would just up the numbers of the other cichlids.
50 corys sounds good. In a tank this size i would say make sure you have atleast 10 of every type. What about a group of
Pictus
Hoplo
or flagtail catfish

hmm good point about the cribs is there any other kind of replacement for the apistogramma

and im not that keen on those catfish tbh

what about some dojo loaches

Yeah i think the loaches should be fine. I cant really thing of any other dwarf cichlids. There are Golden Dwarf Cichlid but i think with the females only getting 1.5" they could be pushed around by the clowns.

300 Cardinals might be pushing it a bit. I'd go for 299 instead.

This thread is making me green with envy.

If I had a tank like that I would definately be looking at adding schools of Bala Sharks and Denisons.

Amen to that! There are probably others on the forum, but I highly recommend "VickiandKev" for such a purchase, as they have an account at the Fareham Wholesale Tropicals for starters...
http://www.wholesale-tropical-fish.co.uk/price_list.htm

"Large" Cardinals are 59p plus VAT, plus "VickiandKev"'s comission for the sale, although with the quantity you want they might be able to negotiate a better price ;)
