The Start Of My New Tank

I think you will get varying opinions in a new tank. In my own personal experience, I tried five guppies in my new tank and lost all of them within weeks. (yet had Zebras and Glofish at the same time that had no trouble) Later I tried six neons and they have been with me ever since, going on three months now.

well il try the neons first then add the guppys a month later and see how it goes.

This tank was a summer project with my kids for fun, so they picked the decorations, including the neon bright gravel! I probably would not have chosen it, but it certainly is colorful, and I like the overall result. It does play havoc with my camera when I attempt to take pictures and videos, though. The glare tends to overexpose the shots.

When you log into the site you'll see your username on the right next to the fish logo:
1. Click on your username
2. Select "My Profile"
3. Click on "Edit my Profile" (a blue button under the "search" button)
4. In the left column select "Change Signature"

You are then in the same edit screen as creating a new thread post. You can add thread links, add photo links, etc. Photo links can be made to free photo sharing sites like Flickr and Photobucket, etc. I have a bunch of fish tank pictures on my flickr account that I have used in various posts on the forum.

I think the general concensus is that neons need to be introduced to a mature tank. Ie, a tank that has been running for up to six months.

By the way, Cardinal Tetras are similar to neons but brighter and more colourful and overall more impressive (in my opinion).

And slightly bigger, which might impact slightly on stocking capacity.

Cardinals aren't much bigger, especially the males but they are more likely to require soft water, they're hard to find for sale in hard water.

I think the minimal look of the tank is very good and if you're happy that's even better, but in my view £200 seems rather steep - regardless of the brand. I'd of gone for something like a Fluval Roma 90 and probably still had some money left over - even with the cabinet. Although if you like it and it fits with your home that's great. I just prefer more natural looking tanks but that's me. As I said though, the way you've set up your is great, you've made excellent use of the available space.

im going to add some white pebbles once they arrive.
well i downsized from a juwel 180 rio (i nearly cried when i sold it as i loved it )to this as im pregnant and i will find this easyier to maintain (no heavy buckets etc) i love it and it fits well in my lounge.
