The Small Tank May Have To Go.!

Evening all, yep..you've guessed it, a bambino and buggy are en route to our house at the start of next year, it's our first so we're both over the moon!

Now, my 30L corner Aqua One tank, sitting there all pretty in the dining room. It's gonna have to go. Not thrown out/sold or put in storage..it can quite easily go to my fathers who is willing to look after such a small tank (he has tropical experience and plenty of time on his retired hands!). So, let's say Grandad has the tank for a few years... it's current inhabitants can/will quite easily go into my 110L tank... what are your opinions on some of the following..

1/ Get the tank ready for him now. I now know alot more about what fish to have in what size tank than i did this time last year. I could take him to our LFS and show him some of the fish he could have..Chilli Rasbora? Endler Guppy? Shrimp/s?

2/Change it into a complete shrimp tank and put it out the shed? I have suitable electricity and lagging out there, perfect for a little tank which will continue to give me the option of a hospital tank.

3/Suggest a male Betta fish for him? I love the look of these fish, yet each thread and topic i read about them really does put a little doubt into my head about how relative 'newbies' can look after them.

I have a couple of months to look into this further, i spent alot of time, effort and learning on this tank before finally getting it cycled, i really would like to see it continue to be used.
Any suggestions highly appreciated.

I'd go for shrimp or betta tank! . But keeping it in the shed?

im in the same boat in early December, cant go too mad bit of a pain as i have 200 odd cory fry to raise

I don't think bettas are any more difficult to look after than other 'newbie' fish and they have a ton of personality.

Are we talking about options for fish for Grandad?If he has some tropical experience I don't see why he can't be trusted to choose what he likes best (with a bit of guidance to appropriate size fish of course )

Thanks all for the replies. With regards to any tank being in the shed, it's more like a little holiday home in all honesty , if i remember correctly one of the users on here has 4/5 big tanks in his outdoor 'shed'..i should have cleared that up a little at the start, sorry my bad

So, Tizer..what say we do a deal? ? ha, wanna buy a belting little 30L tank and Aquaball filter for your fry?

Thank you Louiseness, if there was a way i could personally keep the tank at home then a Betta is probably what i would have gone for. So yes, i think take him to where i go and see what he fancies.. he might surprise me!
