What part of the cucumber do I feed the fish (I know the BN's will eat it and Im hopeing the 2 angels or the rainbow shark will eat some) and how much of it.

Cheers

All you need to do is put a quarter inch slice in the tank and the fish will find it. Cucumber will float so you can either leave it to float and the plec will find it or you can use something like lead weight or a screwcumber to help it sink. Theres no need to cut the skin off just give it a quick wash under tha tap to get rid of anything that might be on it.
If your plec is shy then it may be best to weight it.
I leave mine in the tank and the next morning it has naturally gone to the bottom where the plec can chew on it. If theres any left after 24 hours then i take it out.

should be fine in any shape

if it's your first time feeding it, you may find the fish don't eat it too much. Just keep putting it in and they'll learn to love it

I used to feed my fish cucumber, they loved it and it was gone the next morning. Funny, i never actually saw them eating it!

you need to do more than jst running it under water, it needs to be blanched so it is easy for the fish to digest and eat

It might depend on what the intended recipient, mightn't it?

My plec is more than capable of both eating and digesting raw cucumber. He loves it.

He does sometimes get a bum deal though from the clown loaches who nibble on his algae wafers all the time (along with anything else edible in there).

The clowns have trouble munching on raw cucumber at any rate of knots, so I make sure I leave it raw every time just for pleccy.

Ps. Randalthor, ask your Mum- it's a cookery term, for basically boiling for a few secs/mins (as I understand it!)

All you need to do is get the peice of cucumber/vegetable you're using, and put it in a microwave safe container. Fill the container with just enough water to submerge the cucumber, and nuke it in the microwave on High for 20 seconds. And there you have it, blanched cucumbers, easy as pie. :D

hmm... we don't bother blanching.. and EVRERYONE eats it.. even the platy :fun: the clowns love it, we had a tiny clown like .5 inch long and he used to be on the cucumber as soon as it was in the tank, no fear of what it was or anything, then he wouldn't leave it alone!! the silver dollars and the bala sharks eat it also!! :D

the only thing i blanche before putting in the tank is peas! we feed them lettuce sometimes also. :)

oh yea and blanching IS when you boil the item of food slightly! and you shouldn't put food in water that isn't boiling.. i think it is supposed to denature some of the enzymes and therefore lose some of it's goodness..!
